About Me
How I get my home

I grew up in apartment with First Family. One day, some strange men come and they put First Family's things into boxes and they start moving all my furntures around. I get scared and upset and so when they are not watching, I sneak outside. There is a big field and I hide in the big field. When I go back later, the strange men are all gone but so is First Family. I look and look but can't find them. So I live outside in the field. It is cold and it gets wet when it rains. There is not much food. There are racoons and other cats and they beat me up.

Finally, one day I go back to apartments. I am very, very hungry because I am not very good at catching things to eat. Loreta-bean is there. She knew First Family, but did not know where they go either. But she takes me into her apartment and feeds me. So I live with Loreta-bean and hide under her bed. I don't like the other bean though. He his loud and rude and yells alot. One day there is a big fight and he punched Loreta-bean. Some men come and take him away but she is crying and upset. She says she had to leave but she can't take me. Where she is going there is a BIG EVIL pitbull dog. So...I am afraid I will be alone again.

But no! She brings me to human in another apartment. I'm not really happy about this, and we have fights for a while. (See my blog entry on Outside.) But finally we learn to get along together because she always feeds me and pets me and plays with me, even when I do bad things like pee on the bed. One day she put in car (I did NOT like that) and we go to a BIG house where I live now. There is a big yard with a tree for me to climb and lots of fun things to do. Bean teach me to catch and kill rats and I do that, and kill bugs and birds too. It is great fun! I get lots of treats and am spoiled all of the time. I am happy here! This human will never abandon me!

About Domestic Cats

The Domestic Shorthair is the same basic cat that first associated with humans thousands of years ago, making us the oldest "breed" of cat although we are not really any breed at all. The name Domestic Shorthair refers to any cat that is not a "purebred" cat. Yet all "purebred" cats originiated from the Domestic Shorthair.

The Domestic Shorthair is also known as the Mixed Housecat or the Domestic Cat. In addition to having a wide and almost endless variety of physical characteristics, the Domestic Cat can have almost any personality type. Someone who's looking for a pet cat can pretty much find a cat that is "perfect" for him or her. Additionally, the Domestic cat can be found anywhere. These are the cats that one can rescue from an animal shelter or even adopt through a "free kittens" advertisement in the newspaper. As long as they are properly taken care of, the Domestic cat doesn't generally suffer from the same ailments that many purebred cats do.

The Domestic Shorthair (and Medium and Longhair) can include any cat that comes from two parents that are either unknown, or unpedigreed. This leads to great variety. However, for show purposes (Yes, we CAN be shown), there are ten different color divisions. They are: Solid, Solid and White, Tabby, Tabby and White, Tortoiseshell, Tortoiseshell and White, Shaded, Shaded and White, Pointed and Pointed and White. Because there are no breed standards, these cats, when being judged, are judged upon the distinctive appearance of the cat, as well as the cat's personality. (I am a solid color cat.)

As the name would imply, the Domestic Shorthair, Mediumhair or Longhair may have short, medium or long fur. The Domestic Cat doesn't really have a size requirement, although most Domestic Cats are of medium size. (I am a big cat, as big as a Maine Coon female - 12 pounds - but not as fluffy!)

Hi there, we know that we have been gone a long time, at least it seems long to us. We have kind of been spending way too much time on Pikapet instead of being here writing to all our friends. We told Momma to get us back on here so we could say we are sorry, and we won't stay gone so long any more! We miss all our friends here a lot when we are away. We hope you are having a great week! We have cooler weather now....real fall weather, perfect for playing outside.
Hugs,
Sophie, Keesie, Sam, Little Bit and B.J.

Hey there Diamond-Emerald-Eyes, it's me, Sophie, again here! We finally got some rain and we Pets all stayed out on the deck with Poppa and Momma, while it rained and thundered like everything, yesterday! It felt so good when the wind blew a little of the rain onto the deck at the edges and hit me in the face. I tried to lick the rain drops up that landed on the railing, but I got tired of that. Keesie was not happy about being outside because of the thunder, and I have to admit that there were quite a few times when I ran over to get under Poppa's chair to hide. Sam, being the big-mouthed dog that he is, had to bark at the thunder....like that would chase it away! I always did think he was a little crazy! B.J., the Himalayan, just curled up in a chair and cat-napped through the whole ordeal while Little Bit, the outside cat stayed under the deck to stay dry and sleep. I think Little Bit is the smartest of all my fur siblings!
Well, all the rain is over with today and the sun is out brightly. I think today we will get to go out into the yard to play while Momma cleans up more leaves from the driveway. She said she wasn't going to tackle the leaves in the yard until there were more, or else she will ride the lawn mower over them and mulch them all up as they fall....she hasn't quite decided what she wants to do. Her other option is getting her human grandkids over here to do the work for her (thinking they are playing with the leaves, but they are really working!) Pretty tricky, I would say.
I think Sam the shepherd is going to the Vet in the morning about his skin problem. It is not getting any better, even with all those stinky, medicated baths he is getting! His hair is coming out in spots and he is looking pretty wicked, in my opinion!
Well, I guess that about does it here for news....I hope you are planning on a fun-filled weekend!
Love,
Sophie, Keesie, Sam, Little Bit and B.J.

Fall Graphics - DazzleJunction.com

Hi there, Diamond-Emerald-Eyes. We hope you are enjoying the new fall season. We think it is called that because all the leaves are fall-ing all over the yard. We like playing in the leaves, but Momma must not like them as much as we do. She has been complaining about raking them up. We watched from the deck while she raked up the driveway. That looked pretty cool to us. We thought she was making a big pile of leaves for us to play in but, then she stuffed them all into big black bags. We think she is giving them away for presents to the big truck that drives by and stops to get bags of presents twice a week. She says it is not presents, but we think they really are. We would have fun with presents like that! From the looks of things, she is going to have lots of bags of presents for the big truck for several weeks to come, because the driveway is getting full of leaves, again, as I write this message to you! Have a great week!

Ummmm, I am confused. This is, in fact, a normal state of mind for me; I am a Maine Coon cat whose family has inbred for generations. That can have very adverse affects on how your brain works. I am living proof. In addition to my normal confused state of mind, what is this Me-me thing anyway???

Happy first day of autumn to you, from all us Pets. We like playing in the leaves in the fall and we love playing in the snow in the winter, and we love the fresh air of spring and we love the lazy summer days! We just love it all! I guess we will take each season as it comes, though. Now it is Pumpkin season! Pumpkins are great to look at. I suppose we will have to start looking for one to decorate our deck up for the season. Now Halloween is just around the corner! Have a great day!
