Hello everyone. I would like you to meet my dog brohter, Tylo. Moms going to make him a petsplaces account soon. Just thought you would like a peek at how cute he is! Tylo is currently 1 year old, and is HUGE. He grew so fast, all the calcium went to his teeth instead of his ears, so they flop down. Smile

Learning Flashcards!
Posted April 27, 2007 by Katiee
Hey everyone, Katie here. Guess what? Moms been teaching me doggy flashcards! Each one has a command, a demonstration picture, and the word. I already know Sit, Wave, Down, Come, Stay, Sorry, and Up. They are extremely easy once you get the hang of it. Its simple association. Just like verbal commands and hand signals. Only, you are more focused in smaller changes, for example the word or picture on the card. First, mom let me watch her pick up a treat and hide it in her palm while she held up the card with both hands. Naturally, I watch the hand with the treat, so my attention was focused in that area. Next, she told me the verbal command, which I knew of course. And I sat. In the beginning, she used the two cards SIT and DOWN. After she tells me to sit, and sit, she puts the card that says DOWN in front of the one that says SIT. She says the verbal command, and I go down. Its extremely simple once you learn to focus on small differences in each card. Soon after a few sessions of practice, I was able to do both the SIT and DOWN with out mom even saying a word of giving me any hints with her body language. Mom has been adding more cards to my training, and we’ve even made up a small routine that we perform for people at the park.

Flashcards are a ton of fun, and it really impresses people! I think every dog should at least give it a try. Smile
