Hello! I'm Tracy. One of Kelly's human sisters! I'm gonna tell you Kelly's story since she's busy playing with my grandpa and some other pets that have passed on as well. She's still getting used to living so differently than before. So... Here's my version of Kelly's life!

I remember that day we got her...
It was March 1998. My family and I were going for a ride and decided to go to Petsmart 'just to look'. When we got in, we looked at the puppies they had for sale. After not having a dog for quite some time, we considered getting one of the two puppies in the cage. An hour and a half later, mainly trying to talk my dad into it, we came out with a dog whose Petsmart name was 'Buttercup'. On the way home, we thought of names for her. It was I who suggested Kelly, after my mom's dog she had growing up. So we stuck with it and we started our life with our new puppy.

The next few months were for housebreaking and trying to get her over her fear of leaving or coming into the house on her own. Then we took her to Puppy Preschool where she learned some of the basic tricks: Sit, stay, come, ect. Then on to Puppy Kindergarden where she was still learning the basics. Heel, uh... Can't remember what else. But we didn't want to continue training after Kindergarden. Especially when this big dog ate Kelly's diploma. ^_^ But after that, we got along pretty well!

Kelly was the perfect dog. Sure, she wasn't all that bright, but still. She was great with young children, loved to play and go "Bye-bye in car", and of course, she loved getting treats! Of course, she would get on our nerves a lot. She followed my mom EVERYWHERE and that got old fast. But you know the saying "You don't know what you've got till it's gone." There were times when I'd pet Kelly, I hugged her, sometimes when she laid down, I'd put my head on her side! But years after we got her (dunno how long), she started having siezures! We took her to the vet and she hadda take 1 1/2 pills twice a day. Luckily it worked. But near the end of her life, the arthritis she had got worse and we had to take her to the vet again. This time, for pain pills. And in August 2006, my dad got transferred from Virginia to Wisconsin, so we hadda move. The move really messed Kelly up. Sometimes, I still wonder if we hadn't moved, would Kelly still be with us? That's one thing we will never know. But on the morning of October 27th, 2006, I hadda get up and go with my mom to the vet at about 6:30am. Kelly was laying on the floor, her head at an odd angle. She couldn't move and was clearly in pain. She had some internal bleeding that was getting into her stomach and we had two choices. Spend $5,000 on an operation that may or may not work, or put her to sleep. Unfortunatly, we didn't have the money, but I fought for Kelly's life. After a phone call to my dad, he said that he was sorry. We just couldn't afford it. So we had to put her down after a very tearful goodbye. As we walked out the door before they ended Kelly's life, I saw the look on her face. Her eyes were wide and fearful. She was clearly saying "Oh my God! What are you gonna do to me?" I felt so guilty. I know it was for the best, but I just loved her so much. We had her cremated and we now have her ashes. But it's not the same and home hasn't been the same since. So rest in Peace Kelly Girl!
