Hey all you pets out there, first off, I'd like to say Happy New Year and wish you all the best in 2008. Second, if you dont me my name is Ms Millie. I am a pom (and a pretty one if I say so myself) and you are welcome to come to my page and see me. Thirdly, and the main reason for this blog is this. I have been away from here for a few months and so I was browsing in the groups and contests and noticed that most of them have stopped. Contests are left hanging with no winners announced. Those of you who had run the m'ost successful contest groups seem to have just let them drop and that to me was half of the fun here. So, remember how much fun we had with last years Spring Fling? Well, what about getting a similar thing going for February for Valentine's Day. What do you think? Lets get 2008 off to the right start. If you want to do this, let me know and I will help. I hear what you are saying about the contests and the fun we used to have - but I have to be quite honest with you. In your absence a lot has happened. I really hope you have read back in the blogs and take in what should be absorbed in light of your absence. There has been a lot of deceit and dishonesty by pets we thought were good friends.
You also need to know that our family is pretty discouraged at this point in joining and entering any contests at this time. Especially since the following only happened to our family in November.
This included Mommy entering us in another group that had contests. Awards for Pets or Awards for All Pets or something like that. We found our November entry had been copied (along with all the entries) and put as a comment message to all the group owner's friends asking and encouraging them to vote for us. If anything I could have solicited for my own votes if it was needed.
And this issue is very old and stale issue that has surfaced a lot over the past year - but the bottom line is no one has the right to copy another pets picture without their explicit permission. We did not enter a contest to have our picture posted on other pet's pages.
Then there was also the issue of honesty and fairness in the group. Contestants never saw the votes and it was left up to the Group Owner to count and determine who the winner would be. Well when the group owner's pet enters and wins that again become questionable, biased and concerning - especially when no one sees the votes.
So Millie I wish you luck in pursuing this and do hope you will take some serious consideration to what has happened here within the time you were absent and set some definite rules if it is your intent to start a new contest group.
And yes Millie !! many contests were left unfinished with no awards given - but I believe that was because Chloe had pups and her mom was busy in school. In that context it was acceptable as you know yourself how busy moms are when they have baby pupsters.
