I am a cat - the world is my litterbox!
About Me
How I get my home

I grew up in apartment with First Family. One day, some strange men come and they put First Family's things into boxes and they start moving all my furntures around. I get scared and upset and so when they are not watching, I sneak outside. There is a big field and I hide in the big field. When I go back later, the strange men are all gone but so is First Family. I look and look but can't find them. So I live outside in the field. It is cold and it gets wet when it rains. There is not much food. There are racoons and other cats and they beat me up.

Finally, one day I go back to apartments. I am very, very hungry because I am not very good at catching things to eat. Loreta-bean is there. She knew First Family, but did not know where they go either. But she takes me into her apartment and feeds me. So I live with Loreta-bean and hide under her bed. I don't like the other bean though. He his loud and rude and yells alot. One day there is a big fight and he punched Loreta-bean. Some men come and take him away but she is crying and upset. She says she had to leave but she can't take me. Where she is going there is a BIG EVIL pitbull dog. So...I am afraid I will be alone again.

But no! She brings me to human in another apartment. I'm not really happy about this, and we have fights for a while. (See my blog entry on Outside.) But finally we learn to get along together because she always feeds me and pets me and plays with me, even when I do bad things like pee on the bed. One day she put in car (I did NOT like that) and we go to a BIG house where I live now. There is a big yard with a tree for me to climb and lots of fun things to do. Bean teach me to catch and kill rats and I do that, and kill bugs and birds too. It is great fun! I get lots of treats and am spoiled all of the time. I am happy here! This human will never abandon me!

About Domestic Cats

The Domestic Shorthair is the same basic cat that first associated with humans thousands of years ago, making us the oldest "breed" of cat although we are not really any breed at all. The name Domestic Shorthair refers to any cat that is not a "purebred" cat. Yet all "purebred" cats originiated from the Domestic Shorthair.

The Domestic Shorthair is also known as the Mixed Housecat or the Domestic Cat. In addition to having a wide and almost endless variety of physical characteristics, the Domestic Cat can have almost any personality type. Someone who's looking for a pet cat can pretty much find a cat that is "perfect" for him or her. Additionally, the Domestic cat can be found anywhere. These are the cats that one can rescue from an animal shelter or even adopt through a "free kittens" advertisement in the newspaper. As long as they are properly taken care of, the Domestic cat doesn't generally suffer from the same ailments that many purebred cats do.

The Domestic Shorthair (and Medium and Longhair) can include any cat that comes from two parents that are either unknown, or unpedigreed. This leads to great variety. However, for show purposes (Yes, we CAN be shown), there are ten different color divisions. They are: Solid, Solid and White, Tabby, Tabby and White, Tortoiseshell, Tortoiseshell and White, Shaded, Shaded and White, Pointed and Pointed and White. Because there are no breed standards, these cats, when being judged, are judged upon the distinctive appearance of the cat, as well as the cat's personality. (I am a solid color cat.)

As the name would imply, the Domestic Shorthair, Mediumhair or Longhair may have short, medium or long fur. The Domestic Cat doesn't really have a size requirement, although most Domestic Cats are of medium size. (I am a big cat, as big as a Maine Coon female - 12 pounds - but not as fluffy!)

Hey there, we had some problems with Momma's Laptop, but we are hoping it is better now so we can write to all our friends. At least the pages aren't freezing up yet. We are keeping our paws crossed!
Have a great Tuesday!

Hi there! Well, a new week is upon us so we will make the best of it until the weekend gets here, again. Everyone is getting rain around us, but as usual, we are getting passed by! What's up with that? At least the hurricaines are missing the U.S.A. except for a lot of downpours in certain areas of the south. We Pets hope that all our friends are safe in those areas. Enjoy your week!
XOXOX,
Keesie, Sophie, Sam, Little Bit and B.J.

Hi there! This is Sophie here, today. I had a bad day because Momma decided it was bath time for me. I do NOT like water! Momma got out the garden hose and took me out on the deck and tried squirting me to wet me down. I ran all over the deck and Momma was chasing me everywhere! She can't hold me by the collar because I am too big and strong and I would pull her down, so we just ran all over the place. I think that is the most exercise that Momma has had in a long time. Even Sam and Poppa and Momma got soaked! The shampoo part was nice, though, and it felt like I was getting petted all over. Then the bad part again....the rinsing off with the hose....so more running around and getting chased! I wore Momma out....hahaha....and I even heard that tomorrow it will be Keesie's turn! She doesn't put up a fight though, she's kinda wimpy and just stands still....in the bath tub, even. She has no spunk, like Sam and I. Well, after the drenching, we had to stay outside untill we dried off, which wasn't that long in this heat.
We Pets hope you have a great day!
XOXOX,
Sophie and all us Pets

It is very hot here today with Atlantic City reaching 101 degrees without including the heat index. With the humidity, it felt like 110 to 115. I wish this heat could be bottled for January and February.

Try to keep cool and keep yourselves hydrated. Give your human an extra nudge or two for some ice cubes in the water bowl--or maybe even some of that frozen doggy ice cream!

All I can saw about my summer is TOO HOT!!! The special thing Mommy does for me is slowly run the water in the bathroom sink so I can drink from the spigot.

Hi Diamond,

We're not gonna get to go out and play today. Just a quick walk. It's only 88 degrees but with the heat index, it feels like 98 degrees. Hot, hot, hot! We wish doggies and kitties were allowed in the people swimming pool! Oh, well. We'll just stay in the nice air conditioning and play with our toys. We hope you have a great Saturday!
