Not much new today,,,A little cooler, but high humidity with showers. The rain can only help with the forest fire. Still, Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down and this is a double dose!

Last time you all met Zachary. Today, meet Chantilly of KittyKisses.

I am Chantilly, a senior citizen by cat standards. At one time I had a rough life. Now I have it good, even if I have to shard my home with many other cats. I have put each and every one of them in their place so they know not to mess with Chantilly.

I was found stuck in a thorny bush in the Jersey Pine Barrens. Animal Control picked me up and took me to the county shelter. I had been used for breeding all my life much like a cat version of a puppy mill breeder dog. I never received personal care. I was full of fleas and totally matted. The shelter employees thought I was the ugliest cat they ever saw and would not even touch me.

My forever Non stopped in the shelter and just looked at the animals. she made a comment to the woman in charge that I was beautiful as was an all white short hair cat. Unknown to the shelter employees but known to my now Mom, I am a shaded silver torbie and white Persian cat with green eyes.

The next day my now Mom received a phone call from the shelter. They told her that the ugly cat she liked so much and the white cat both had upper respiratory infections and were being put down at 4:00 PM that day. My Mom had to quickly work to get money together to get us out of the shelter befopre we were killed. She is disabled and on a limited income. Finally she was able to get in touch with a rescue group that works with the shelter. The shelter allowed this rescue group to take cats out att a much lower fee. My Mom knew she was going to have to take us right to the vet and would need money for that. The volunteer from the rescue met my Mom at the shelter. Mu Mom gave her the money and she paid the shelter and handed the two of us right over to my Mom. The shelter was going to give us a distemper shot, but my Mom said no. "The cats are sick. You wait until they are well to give them immunizations. The woman in charge of the shelter said my Mom could not get the shots later. Mom said she did not care and that she would get them for us herself when we were better.

Mom put Advantage on both of us before even putting us in the car. We went right to the vet. The white cat was not that ill, but I was very sick and an older cat. Mom could not believe that I had never been spayed. The white cat needed to be neutered, too.

Mom nursed me back to health. It was four months before I was well and strong enough to be spayed and get immunizations. Mom's refusal of that distemper shot was probably what made me able to pull through my illness. I was at least eight years old back then. Mom has had me so long now that I am at least sixteen years old now. My fur is always combed and mat free. I do snore when I sleep though. Also, I have not had to have any more litters of kittens. Now when I see those little rug rats I hiss and growl at them. I had more than my share's worth before I got my forever home.

This is why I love my forever Mom.

Today I watched one of the cats put his paw in the water bowl before taking a drink. I do not know why he did that, but it looked like a good idea. I tried it, lost my balance, and my whole top half ended up in the bowl soaking wet!

It was not a good idea!

Hope your week is going great. Mommy will not be home for a couple of days. I hope she forgets and leaves the computer on, but I will not get my hopes up. I will be thinking of you every minute. I love my PetsPlaces friends!
