Meet Peaches!

My full name is DGM Peaches N Cream of Kittykisses

Here is my story:

My Mommy saw me on Petfinders many years ago before she had a computer. She used one at the county library. The shelter was the county one in the same complex as the library. She said I spoke to her so she left the library and came to check me out. I was ion a small cage. I meowed at her right away. Mommy asked if she could hold me. The shelter staff said no because I was a feral and just putting in my required by law five days. Animal control had gotten me as a stray. I meowed to Mommy. She talked to me so gently. I got up and moved to the edge of the cage. Mommy told me how pretty I was. When no one was looking, she pet me and I let her. Silly shelter workers do not know the power of love! She said I was so soft and beautiful and she was sure I would get a home. Then Mommy had to leave because visiting hours were over.

Several days later, Mommy went to use the computer again and checked out Petfinders. I was still on there, so Mommy went back to the shelter to see if someone had applied for me. When she got there, I was not in the cage where she had seen me before. She looked around all the cat cages. Then she went into the room of the end of the line cages. These are the last cages cats get moved to before they are euthanized. She found me in the last cage there. I remembered her and got right up and walked over to her. She pet me then looked through the papers tied to my cage. Then she went to find a worker. Nest thing I knew, Mommy was gone and I was whisked out of the cage and put into a hard plastic box-like thing. I made a lot of noise and hissed at that worker who had been mean to me since I got there. Then off she went carrying me in the box. Next thing I knew, the box was handed to Mommy who had lots of papers in her hands. She took me out of there and put me in a car. We went for a long drive. I did not like where we went. They poked at me and stuff. Then Mommy brought me into a big room with lots of dogs. We just waited. Then someone came out and said negative/negative. Mommy was so happy about this. We left there and went back to the car. This time the ride was not so long. Then we entered a house. I saw other cats in there looking comfortable and checking me out. Then she put me in a room and closed the door. She let me out of that plastic box, I meowed a lot and talked to my new Mommy. She pet me and put down bowls of water and food and gave me a big litter pan. This was the start of a beautiful relationship.

I was what they called a feral. For some reason though, I was never really afraid of this human who was now my Mommy. Eventually, I was allowed to roam the house and meet the other cats.

Eventually, Mommy said I was so beautiful that she was going to put me in a cat show. She gave me a longer name. I had been Peaches because Mommy thought my color was the same color as peaches. She named me Peaches N Cream of Kittykisses.

At the cat shows, lots of people picked me up and put me on a table. Lots of people sat around and watched. Some of the judges said I was red point, others, cream point. Finally I became a red lynx point and white. I got pretty ribbons put on my cage. I liked this. Mommy gave me lots of attention, just the two of us. The worst part was the bath, nail trimming, ear cleaning etc. the day before. Then Mommy gave me a quick touch up grooming before I went before the judge. Then I got more letters put before my name. I became a Double Grand Master. Mommy no longer shows me or any of the other cats because she cannot afford it and does not have a reliable car to drive us to the shows. They are very long car ride away.

Lots of other cats came to live with us where we live now. They were supposed to stay just a short time then go to their new homes with forever Mommies of their own. Something went very wrong and the person who was the owner of the rescue decided she was just going to have them all "put down", which was a fancy way to say killed. Mommy says I was less than 24 hours away from being 'put down' when she brought me home and that she would not have it. So the cats have all stayed here. This has been a big financial burden on Mommy. She is sick herself and has very little money.

I love my Mommy very much. Every day I spend some time cuddling with her and talking to her. Mommy thinks it is that red gene in me that makes me talk a lot. I like to play with the other cats and meow and chase them. Mommy says I act more like a boy than a girl! I am the only female member of The Brat Pack, which consists of many younger cats in the house that always get in trouble and break Mommy's stuff.

(In case you are not aware, I am spayed. Every cat that lives in our house is either spayed or neutered! I am an indoors only cat. All the cats that live here are indoors only, too.)

This is my story and I am sticking to it for now!!! MOL!!!
