I noticed that Buster can eat solids now.
So when we give Blackie her snacks for the day (apple, peach, carrrot, etc...
We give buster a tiny slice, so yesterday I gave blackie a tiny piece of beef and buster a really tiny piece, blackie stuffed it in her cheek and while Buster was eating his piece blackie ran over and ate it.
This morning (or yesterday) my mom gave them some peaches and Blackie once again stole his slice.

Just now there was an apple slice at the bottom of the cage, and its been there for over 30 minutes, so buster found it and started eating it, at the time Blackie was biting on the bars and stopped.
I was watching her because the computer is right next to her cage, then she took a sniff and grabbed the piece right out of his mouth, how mean!!
Buster doesnt walk to well but he still smelled it and tried to take a bite but Blackie ran to the other side of the cage.
and she didnt even eat the whole piece!
Now I know why hamsters have cheek pouches because they like to take each others food.

Blackie made me so mad when she did that, I read on a site that apples can prevent dehydration in hamster young, also cucumbers, i'm off to get some cucumbers tomorrow.
I mean she had her own piece but she put it up and then took his piece from him, she is too spoiled and selfish!!

I took blackie out and put her in the ball to run around, and gave buster a nice cold piece, and he loved it!!
It was cute when she first did it but now its frustrating.
I just wish she'd share even though she gets her own bigger piece.

Buster walks around the cage now, but not too well,.
I hope he makes it into adulthood.
I cannot wait till his eyes open!! he is soo cute
It seems like he will have a little brown in him, I dont see how because blackie is of course black and when I got her at the store the others was black with a little white, must trace back to ancestery.
(uh oh buster is eating the apple again)

Blackie is a good overprotective mother, when buster leaves the nest she will grab him up and put him back

I woke up this morning and three babies died, they look like the arnt doing too well.
I dunno if Blackie isnt producing enough milk or if they got milk fever.
She does try to get them to latch on but some wont.
I use a toilet paper roll that she had tore up to move them, but they still wont latch on.

I will call the vet though, and is hoping that they do get better.

Update: I called the vet and got nowhere!!
they said that she may be killing them but she isnt

Hamster had babies, what to do?

No not sammie

but my other hamster (black panther, a black bear hamster) I'm thinking that she got pregnant at the pet store.

these are the reasons..
when we was at the store we was looking at hammies on 12/29/07 it was all alone in a corner by herself while the other hamsters were together. she was still in a cage of other hamsters but by herself.

we was told it was a boy, i knew it was a girl.
the employee insisted it was a boy but didnt know.
when we got to the register he asked someone else and it was a girl.

I was like man I want a boy because they are layed back, but she was nice so I got her.

Over days I noticed her getting fatter and joked about a pregnancy.
Then yesterday I picked her up and she was HEAVY and BIG
so i was really sure that she may be pregnant.

so we fed her scrambled eggs to make sure she had the nutrients and I read up on hamster pregnancy, birth etc..

so today I noticed blood in her cage and went to my mom and told her about it, then we saw a baby pop out.

I think theres 5 or 6 but im not sure.

Im really scared and dont want her to hurt her babies (even though theres a reason)

I need to know what I should do and want advice from people that dealt with this.

what should I do?

she lays on them is this safe?
can they breathe?

When feeding her and giving her water will she get startled ?
How should I go about giving her food?

Ill ask the pet store for info when they open but Im paranoid and need to know now.

Oh and she lives with no other hamsters so that is out of the door

I do not want to get rid of her or them

Anyone can answer who had small animals give birth or any animal at that.

I apologize for any typos or not making sense but i'm concerned for her and her babies

does anyone watch this show on animal planet?

I have always wanted to see this show but i got caught up in watching shows on the-n (Degrassi, South of Nowhere, The Best Years)
so i finally got to see the show and i love it, apart from the tragic endings and the deaths its a great show!!

ive missed season 1 and 2 but i plan on buying it on dvd or getting it as a gift.
hopefully the proceeds go to meerkats.

im soo upset how flower died, her face was so swollen from that bite from the cape cobra.

if it doesnt make sense sorry.
